We work with high potential, high
impact managers, technical or creative
professionals and administrators who
want to be in charge of their careers
and their destinies. Here are recent
examples, from our
coaching services, of clients, their
challenges and the results they
achieved.
#1: Decision to Stay or Go
Because of a change in the company's
strategic direction, a project engineer,
with 22 years tenure, was facing
potential termination unless he could
find another position within a 9 month
timeframe. Also, part of the package was
a substantial bonus to continue at his
present job until the "bitter end". The
results:
A decision to stay as long as he can and seriously look for internal opportunities.
A strategy for networking and self-marketing to other divisions, departments and plants.
A lateral position, without a reduction in salary, was offered and accepted. He said, "You need to decide if the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know out there."
#2: Unexpected Challenge
A professional architect, diagnosed with a chronic disease, had to come to terms with her inability to continue working in a project team environment that required 60 to 70 hour workweeks. She first stepped down to a less demanding position with a lesser salary. Then she examined her short and long term career, health and financial options. The results:
Re-assessment of career motivators using now her skills of client relationship management, marketing research and creative expression.
A decision to remain in the real estate / construction industry but in a different capacity - from design and production to business development.
A new job with a $40,000 increase in salary which lead to the realization that having a chronic disease is not a disability but an impetus for a new beginning.
#3: Career Transition
A mid-level finance professional,
after receiving his Executive MBA,
wanted to transition from corporate
finance to investment management. This
required leaving a 10 year employment
with an information services company and
finding a new position in the banking
industry. A revised resume, strategic
networking and a highly motivated
presence led to:
Increased confidence to go out
into the marketplace and compete
with “younger” MBA graduates.
A position with a firm that
appreciated his background and
maturity and therefore quickly moved
him up the organization.
The sense that a career
transition and subsequent job search
does not have to be a stressful,
demoralizing experience. “I prepared
now for the future, whatever it
brings.”
